Recently, Evelynn has found favor in the League by being played as an AP mid. She handles the lane well. Her range isn’t the best, but her damage seems very high, especially her sustained DPS due to the short cooldown on her Hate Spike. Hate Spike has a 0.45 AP ratio and up to 120 base damage. Very early I saw this ability doing upwards of 300 damage in an AoE, while still being more mana efficient than other spammed skills, like Ezreal’s Mystic Shot.
I had no idea what I was doing. I had to read each ability two or three times to see what I was getting out of it. I was really impressed by the 0.5 AP ratio on her E, until I read that she attacks twice, so that was actually a 1.0 AP ratio. However, it also scales very nicely, gaining up to 270 bonus flat damage. I maxed her E second. This may be wrong, but I felt stronger with the higher burst.
I managed to get first blood against the Orianna mid. Once I was a little bit ahead I leveraged that advantage to snowball the game. I found it much easier to farm with Evelynn, and loved the mechanics on her Q. I kept expecting all my cooldowns to drop when I got a kill, but that was never the case. I also played my W wrong, thinking that I would still be stealthed after I used it, like Ev’s old ultimate.
This game ended well.
