You probably guessed that it would never happen.  I wouldn’t imagine it could unless a team intentionally set out to achieve this feat.  However, Pax played a game against a team that managed to hit a “Penta Triple Double”!

Penta Triple Double is a term that I created based on the popular basketball term “Triple Double”.  In a basketball game it is rather rare for a player to get a triple double.  The person with the most last season was Rondo with four.  Four triple doubles.  In a whole season!  And this team did five in one game!  Double digit kills, deaths, and assists on the whole team!

It gets worse.  Pax, despite being well ahead in kills, was not ahead in gold over his ADC counterpart.  Draven, with his 381 CS had managed to surpass paxoria’s gold, despite being on a losing team.  When Pax emerged from the jungle to slay poor Draven who was harmlessly farming bot lane, Draven just turned and pressed spinning axes once and dropped Pax.  Double fully-stacked Bloodthirster with tons of crit and extra armor definitely helped.  I’m not a fan of Madred’s, but the armor seemed to be very useful for dueling.  I think a Guardian Angel would have been a better fit, but hindsight is 20/20, and evidently this guy wanted damage.  Period.

There were two key plays in this game that I want to talk about while my cheeks still hurt from laughing about them.

The first of the two plays was purple team’s Cho’Gath stealing the enemy blue buff.  You’ll notice he was an AP Cho, no attack speed or damage.  He had somehow turned his spikes off and had failed to notice.  This is significant damage loss for a Cho.  It’s 80 flat damage plus a 0.3 AP ratio.  With Cho’s roughly 300 AP that would have been another 90 damage, so 170 damage per attack that Cho wasn’t too worried about.  His mind must have been somewhere else because when his rupture and scream came off cooldown he shot them both at this ancient golem that was taking much too long to kill.  His rupture missed, below golem, more into the bush than into golem.  I attributed this to awkward angles, maybe he couldn’t see his cursor.  Then he missed his scream.  That’s right.  Point blank.  Attacking golem.  Missed his scream.

By this point I’m laughing uncontrollably.  Cho realizes that while Blue Buff isn’t worth dying for, taking the enemy inhibitor may be worth it.  He sees the enemies out of position and makes his way into the blue base.  He starts relentlessly attacking the inhibitor.  Now that he’s attacking a building he decides to turn on his spikes, effectively increasing his damage to the building by 0.  He stands and tanks minions while he destroys top lane’s inhibitor.  He meanders down to mid lane.  This time he uses his abilities to clear the creeps that were attacking him which acted like a quick heal.  However, another wild Cho’Gath appeared to fight.  Little Cho, meet Big Cho.  Little Cho is already injured and Big Cho is Legendary and has a Guardian Angel.  However, there is one fundamental flaw; skill shots.  With neither of them able to effectively land skill shots on the other they are forced into the most brutal and excruciating stalemate of damage I have ever witnessed.  The inhibitor is defended, but neither can kill the other.

Now I’m dying because that Cho’Gath play was so humorous.  This is when the second big play happened.  I want to clarify that this was a great idea, just how it ended was funny enough to want to write about.

For the second play the enemy team is out of their base as super minions are pushing in from the top lane.  Pax cleverly had held his teleport.  He teleports in on the super creep tanking both the turrets fire and starts going to work on the Nexus turrets.  Maokai recalled to be able to defend for his team.  As the tree steps into range he throws a sapling.  Ezreal is unscathed, but all at once Maokai drops his ultimate, uses Twisted Advance, watches the sapling explode, and punches the ground into Ezreal.  Then he calmly turned off his ultimate as Ezreal had died.  He had melted that poor soul.  He didn’t even break a sweat!  I was floored.  You don’t normally see items like Rod of Ages or Rylai’s on the tree, not to mention Deathcap or Abyssal.  It was shocking.

Eventually Pax and his team fought and won.  They caught person and person and then with 72 second death timers they marched into the enemy base and killed the Nexus.

When I watch games in spectator mode I hate that I can’t see Team Chat.  It just feels very uncoordinated and unplanned and somehow one team gets lucky late game and just wins the game.  If this is how my games look then watching this game play may really help me.
