I thought it was comical that we were playing a five-man map and three people on my team were named Sam. However, in this game we all got over-powered champions for ARAM; Master Yi, Morgana, and Blitzcrank. It wasn’t always this way, however. Sambev actually got Katarina in champion select, but then was unable to trade with anyone else because he didn’t own the champions that people had. Meanwhile, Czarni had Master Yi, who I would LOVE to play as. I was sitting on Lulu, and with about 10 seconds left someone suggested I just re-roll. I rolled a Morgana. Sambev said “I can trade you for Morgana” to which I replied “DO IT!” I traded Morgana for Katarina, and Katarina to Czarni for Master Yi.
It didn’t take us long to reach our stride in this game. We had complete control with Blitz throwing hooks and Morgana’s Dark Binding snagging foes from the bushes. I started spamming laugh early as my plan to have the enemy team harass me and then meditate it off was working really well. I probably had Nunu Ice Blast me eight times before he realized he wasn’t doing any damage.
With two champions that had resets all we had to do was take one person down and we could roll the rest of the team fight. Sadly, the enemy team had four melee champs so if we were going to fight it was going to be a committed team fight where there would be casualties.
I had a couple of misplays but found that I could pick up multiple kills each fight with the insane damage from Alpha Strike. I started running numbers on Alpha Strike to see if I could burst someone down from full. After Deathfire Grasp it would be some pretty insane damage, but I needed Lich Bane before I’d be able to one-shot someone.
A team fight broke out as Tryndamere tried to engage and then got Blitz hooked under our turret that forced his Barrier and his Undying Rage. I saw that Anivia’s passive was on cooldown so she wouldn’t have her egg form, and she was low enough for me to kill. I went for it. I used my Highlander and Deathfire Grasp on Anivia and then used Alpha Strike. I dropped her critically low, but didn’t quite finish her off. I chased her to land a couple of autos to finish her off and watched the animation of all of my cooldowns being removed. I had half of my Highlander duration left so I used Alpha Strike again. This one finished off Tryndamere and left me with about three seconds of the Highlander status. Two more instant Alpha Strikes finished off the last three opponents, and I waited for the announcer to confirm if what I thought happened really did happen. Yup, she said it, Pentakill!
Pictures are worth a thousand words, and Czarni was nice enough to send me a screenshot of the score screen after the game because my client crashed. I also recorded a VOD so if you’re interested in watching this crazy Pentakill happen you can fast-forward to 23 minutes in and you’ll see me watch as my teammates die and then I clean up. I had a good time!
