The title means that we played Team Curse in the After Hours Gaming League (AHGL), not that we were cursed as a team for the second time. I was so relieved to win this game that I had forgotten to blog about it until now!
I don’t want to steal the spotlight, but I think I will before I cover Senor Choppes’ complete dominance of the late game. I was First Blood. Ok, now we can get on to what everyone else did right. No, seriously. Not only was I First Blood, but I also managed to feed six of our team’s 11 deaths! I should have found out sooner that I could press the number ‘2’ on my keyboard and go invulnerable for a couple of seconds.
Despite giving First Blood to a Jarvan IV gank I made it up almost immediately. I had not used my Flash when Jarvan came because I reacted too late to Elise’s stun and it wouldn’t have helped me. However, as I was walking back to lane Czarni was protecting our precious turret and pulled some aggro on the Spider Queen. I was right-clicking down lane as fast as I could. Czarni stepped back and used Flash to separate himself from the damage of Elise. She stepped forward only to find a gold card from her friendly neighborhood Twisted Fate. Bam, one and one, baby!
Even though bottom lane was rolling I tried to hop down there as often as I could. I knew Jake would handle himself just fine in top lane, and I didn’t want Miss Fortune to progress towards her end-game at all. Bot lane actually played this perfectly. Each time I came down to bot lane they were ready to go. There was one instance where Taric actually intentionally made Miss Fortune use her Cleanse just so I could come gank! Aw, how thoughtful! She cleansed, and then Twisted Fate showed up behind her. The perfect thing about that play is that she can’t ult because my gold card would shut her up. I guess if she saw a red or blue card she could start her channel and possibly hurt someone, but I wasn’t going to let that happen.
It was very effective to play as Twisted Fate because my presence is global, but really the key is Vi. Vi shows up to gank a lane. It’s extremely hard to escape her because of her immense gap close. Once she’s caught up with you and is pounding your face in Twisted Fate can show up right there, make you stand still and provide just a little bit of burst. It is very deadly.
One small fact about this game that I was hoping no one would notice was that Garen never killed Senor Choppes. Choppes’ only death came from Elise when she roamed from mid and I didn’t call it! In my defense, I let Choppes go Legendary this game by not taking the kills when they were way outside of my range.
It was a great game, and I was thrilled we got to do a best-of-three series with such a fun group of gentlemen. MVP = Senor Choppes. Guy who got all the praise = Twisted Fate. Love it.
